South Florida’s top high school talent to be featured in an “Artistic Discovery” by US Congress

Winners announced at a special reception at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL on Monday, May 3

Bob Roth’s New River Groves is pleased to support local young artist as part “The Artistic Discovery Contest” sponsored by Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Shultz and the US House of Representatives. On Monday, May 3, New River Groves will be sharing and serving our famous Terry’s Key Lime Pies as a part of the reception of more than 250 people honoring the winners.

The Artistic Discovery Contest is way to recognize and encourage artistic talent throughout the nation and especially right here in the 20th district, which includes communities throughout western Broward County, parts of Fort Lauderdale and eastern Miami-Dade County. For the reception, the NSU library will display all 154 works of art submitted by students representing 22 different schools in the district.

The winners will be selected by a panel of judges made up of professionals in the industry representing a wide range of specialties, such as the Curator from the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, the Art Director from the Young At Art Museum, an art professor from NSU and a professional artist.

The contest could be a springboard for one lucky winner who will get national recognition. The top overall winning art piece will have the honor of being displayed in the Capitol Building in Washington DC for one year. In addition to local and national recognition, the winning artist will also receive two tickets from Southwest Airlines to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony unveiling the piece on display in The Capitol later this year.

From all of us here at Bob Roth’s New River Groves, good luck to this year’s competitors!
